Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Handycode mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by 8threads LLC, doing business as Handycode (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Upload or distribute malicious content, malware, or harmful code
  • Create QR codes that link to phishing, scam, or fraudulent content
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Upload content that is illegal, obscene, or promotes violence
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without our written consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you upload to the Service, including files, images, text, and QR code configurations (“Your Content”). By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and serve Your Content as necessary to provide the Service.

For dynamic QR codes made public, you acknowledge that the associated content will be accessible to anyone who scans the code.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that Your Content does not violate any laws or third-party rights.

5. Fair Use and File Hosting

The file hosting features of the Service — including PDF, image, and document hosting for dynamic QR codes — are provided to support QR code functionality. This hosting is not intended for general-purpose file storage or distribution.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service primarily as a file hosting or file sharing platform
  • Distribute direct links to hosted files as a substitute for using QR codes
  • Upload files that are unrelated to legitimate QR code use cases
  • Generate excessive bandwidth through bulk or automated access to hosted files

We may enforce storage and bandwidth limits at our discretion. If we determine that your usage exceeds fair use or falls outside the intended purpose of the Service, we may restrict access to hosted files, remove content, or suspend your account with notice.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Handycode offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and are subject to their respective terms and refund policies.

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled before the end of the current billing period
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription through your device’s app store settings
  • We may change subscription pricing with reasonable notice; existing subscribers will be notified before any price change takes effect

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

The offline-first design of Handycode ensures that your locally stored QR codes remain accessible even without an internet connection.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and documentation, is owned by 8threads LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. “Handycode” and related marks are trademarks of 8threads LLC. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, 8threads LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms within the app or on our website. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Texas.
