This Privacy Policy describes how 8threads LLC, doing business as Handycode (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Handycode mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a Handycode account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials.

QR Code Content

We store the content you create within the Service, including:

  • Static QR codes: Links, WiFi configurations, contact information, and social media profiles stored locally on your device
  • Dynamic QR codes: Text, links, PDF files, images, and smart contact cards that are stored in our cloud infrastructure to enable real-time updates

Scan Analytics

When someone scans one of your dynamic QR codes, we may collect:

  • Date and time of the scan
  • General geographic location (country/region level)
  • Device type and browser information

Uploaded Files

For dynamic QR code types (PDF, Image), we store the files you upload so they can be served when your QR code is scanned.

Device and Usage Information

We may collect basic device information and app usage data to maintain and improve the Service, including crash reports and performance metrics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Sync your QR codes between your devices
  • Serve dynamic QR code content to scanners
  • Provide scan analytics and performance data to you
  • Improve and develop new features for the Service
  • Communicate with you about the Service, including updates and support
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest to protect your data. Authentication is managed with industry-standard security practices.

The Handycode app also stores your QR codes locally on your device, enabling offline access. This local data is synced with our cloud services when you are online.

4. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services for cloud infrastructure, authentication, file storage, content delivery, and app distribution (including in-app purchase processing through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

5. Data Sharing

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Public QR codes: When you make a dynamic QR code public, the content associated with that code is accessible to anyone who scans it
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, legal process, or government request
  • Protection of rights: When necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of 8threads LLC, our users, or the public

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@handycode.com. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Uploaded files associated with dynamic QR codes are deleted when you delete the corresponding QR code or your account.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your QR code data from the app

8. Children’s Privacy

Handycode is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the app or on our website. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
